WorldSkills UK is the name for high quality skills competitions that are run annually throughout the UK. These competitions aim to encourage young people and adults across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to excel in their vocational skill area. They raise participation, esteem and standards in Apprenticeships and vocational training.
The majority of WorldSkills UK National finals will be held at The Skills Show on 14-16 November 2013.
Outstanding competitors, aged 18-25, who excel in WorldSkills UK competitions could be invited to compete for a place in the team that represents the UK at 'WorldSkills', the biennial international skills competition. The next international WorldSkills competition will be held in Leipzig, Germany in 2013.
You can register to enter a WorldSkills UK competition from the 11 February to the 22 March 2013.
Skills Competition Wales consists of around 30 local skills competitions. Competitors are encouraged to progress and take part in WorldSkills UK competitions, where last year around 5,000 people took part.
Funded by the Welsh Government and run by a dedicated network of colleges, work-based learning providers and employer-led organisations, Skills Competition Wales are free to enter and typically run throughout February and March, these competitions offer students, trainees and apprentices in Wales a chance to challenge, benchmark and raise their skills.
